Lights, camera, action!
The BAFTA Film Awards 2025 just wrapped up, and boy, do we have some stories to tell!
From surprising wins to red-carpet fashion moments, this year’s ceremony had it all.
Let’s dive into the highlights, shall we?
The Big Winners: ‘Conclave’ and ‘The Brutalist’ Steal the Show
Edward Berger’s Conclave, a thriller about cardinals choosing a new pope, snagged Best Film and Best British Film, a rare double win!
Who saw that coming?
It also picked up awards for Best Adapted Screenplay and Best Editing, proving it’s not just about the visuals, folks.
Brady Corbet’s The Brutalist, a three-and-a-half-hour epic, wasn’t far behind, scooping up Best Director for Corbet and Best Actor for Adrien Brody.
Seems like leaving something meaningful really resonated with the BAFTA crowd.
The film also nabbed awards for Best Original Score and Cinematography.
Can’t argue with that!
Mikey Madison: From Supporting Roles to Leading Lady!
In perhaps the biggest surprise of the night, Mikey Madison took home Best Actress for her role in Anora.
Yep, she beat out heavy hitters like Demi Moore and Marianne Jean-Baptiste!
The 25-year-old, known for her roles in Once Upon a Time in Hollywood and Scream, is officially having her moment.
Madison’s acceptance speech was definitely a highlight, too.
Check it out:
She said, “Wow, I really wasn’t expecting this!
I probably should have listened to my publicist and written a speech or something!” Then, she took a moment to recognize the sex worker community, solidifying her status as an ally.
Talk about a mic-drop moment!
‘Emilia Pérez’ Survives Controversy, Zoe Saldaña Shines
Emilia Pérez, the French-made film about a Mexican drug lord transitioning to life as a woman, has been plagued by controversy due to offensive social media posts from its star, Karla Sofía Gascón.
But despite the drama, the film won Best International Film.
And the awards?
They are just the perfect example of people voting with their hearts.
Zoe Saldaña also took home Best Supporting Actress for her role, describing the film as a “creative challenge of a lifetime.”
